Our Worship
Worship is the privileged responsibility to give our praise and thanks, in love to our gracious Lord. Worship is also our privilege to receive our Lord's blessings; as we hear His Word, obtain His forgiveness of our sins and partake of His Sacrament.
Worship is meant to be an enjoyable experience; as believers gather together in celebration, both giving to our God, and receiving from our God.
As we attempt to make worship an enjoyable experience, we conduct a wide variety of different style and format services. An experience for you that is unique among most other churches.
Traditional Worship: For many years Lutheran churches were
linked by a common form of worship using
"Liturgies" (set formats of music and word
responses) and songs from a book called a
"Hymnal". In late 2007 we began using the
newly published hymnal: The Lutheran
Service Book.
Creative/Blended: These are worship services which contain more
modern music and word responses, as well as
hymns and songs from a wide array of Christian
sources.
Contemporary-Praise: Praise services focus on using the newer
Christian songs which are available today.
Such services offer medleys of these songs
lead by teams of praise singers and
accompanied by a synthesizer and other
instruments.
Musical taste is a very personal thing...so is worship taste.
The old saying goes: "Variety is the spice of life". So to add some
"spice" to our worship at St John, we offer to you all these styles
of worship, with a different format every week.
Other Special Worship Services:
Over the course of a year we also conduct other special worship services: Sermon/Study; Word-Song Response; Q & A with Pastor;
Your Favorite Hymns and Songs; Gospel-Fest; Christmas Carol-Fest,
and more.
Special Holiday Worship Services:
And we conduct worship celebrations of "secular" holidays:
Mother's Day; Father' Day; Memorial Day; Fourth of July; sometimes even St. Patrick's Day (Pastor is Irish).
Worship Times:
We offer this variety of worship services, along with a meaningful,
Bible applied message every Sunday at 8:00 and 10:30 AM.
As well as seasonal worship services: Thanksgiving; Advent and
Lenten services, etc. Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.
Holy Communion:
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the Second and Fourth Sundays of every month; and on special worship festivals.
Please join us for worship...soon.
